I always keep an eye out on the forecast: it's something I learned from my father, a sailor and keen meteorologist. Every morning he would tap the barometer to check the rising and falling pressure and predict the coming weather. Living in the UK, the weather dictates much of our plans and conversation!
When I see a clear sky and overnight temperatures below zero I know the following day holds promise. On this occasion I envisaged frost and clear skies so headed for the nearest high point to me, St Marthas on the North Downs with trail runner Matt Buck to capture some content.
What I hadn't envisaged was a blanket of snow. The scene was perfect, the location sublime and Matt ran some lines for me with the following results.
